If you are posting on good quality “threads” that are related to your business, it can greatly help your ranking. Here are some quick tips for using forums to drive people to your website:

Don’t SPAM the forum otherwise you will get banned or ignored
Become an active contributor before you start dropping your links, otherwise you might be seen as a spammer
Make sure you introduce yourself first.

Google Maps: If you have a business that is run from an address where potential customers visit, creating a Google account and having a listing in Google Maps can be a great way to get your website seen by people searching for a local service.
Press Releases: An important part of business marketing is writing press releases and submitting them. There are many websites out there that will allow free press release submissions. Make sure you include a link back to your website within the press release.
Reciprocal links: “I’ll scratch your back if you’ll scratch mine” pretty much sums this one up. Reciporcal Are a great way to get links back to your website, as long as the website you are requesting links from is somewhat related to your website. A general rule is to find sites that are in similar industries to your own without being in your direct competition.
Promote your site in online forums: A good way to go about this would be to use your personal name as the account name, but put a link to your website in your footer. Make sure that you become an active member of the forum community before you go and drop links to your own site into your posts. You don’t want to get banned for spamming.
